I installed this unit in a large 48 gallon hydroponic system that had lots of algae and was very difficult to clean. I tried to mask as much light as possible in the system. Also, I used a diluted mix of hydrogen peroxide and bottled sprays in heavily infested areas, but the algae persisted as the environment was ideal for algae growth conditions. However, 3 days after installation, the algae were completely gone. I even saw immediate results within 24 hours of the algae disappearing. It was a perfect purchase and I am very happy with the product. The only thing I can suggest is that it would be great to have an extra suction cup on the underside of the base opposite the side of the indicator light as that side of the cylinder needs to come to the surface. The suction cup holds it and makes this diving system more comfortable.
