My standard metal mailbox is 27 years old and is firmly enclosed in a giant brick pillar. So I can't replace the entire mailbox. Two parts of this kit have been missing for years. Noticing the broken piece with a latch inside, I knew it would be easy to install if I could find it. I was looking for this kit. It's ridiculously easy to install. I doubt anyone noticed being black on a black mailbox, except it's easier for a postman to use than to hold on to the edge of the door itself. I expect it will be fine for many years, but probably not 27 yet.
