Really terrible product. In the first one I received, the ambient temperature was lowered by 20F before it was even used. I then checked the 32f water calibration and it was correct. Then I checked the temperature of the boiling water, again in place. I've used it on steaks that I've been cooking and the temperatures have been everywhere, it couldn't determine the temperature for a medium steak (150f) and the reading jumped from 170f to 190f. I called Amazon and they shipped me another one the next day. Now I had two of these, so I decided to test them side by side. I decided to cook thick pork chops on a grill, it was snowing and the outside temp was 38f. Both read the temperature as 55f and 65f respectively. I started roasting the chops and checked the internal temp by sticking the probes into the chops side by side. Both showed chaotic readings with time jumps from 20 to 30f. After about 20 seconds they finally stabilized and there was a 20 foot difference between them. They registered 160f and 170f. The actual temperature was 150f. In conclusion, I suspect this product was made from off-the-shelf components that had passed their use-by date and were bought cheaply from this company. I would guess so because I'm an electrical engineer developing a product in a factory and I've encountered this type of problem before. Bottom line is you get what you pay for and this product sucks. I brought both of them back to Revane.
