I installed 3 of these on an outside patio without a remote or lighting kit. Good - fairly well built, calm and pretty well balanced right off the bat. Wiring is easy. The bad news is that I've installed dozens of ceiling fans in my life and none of them have been that complicated. None of the bolts are magnetic, so have someone around the ladder pick them up if they hit the ground. The screws that attach the cover to the bracket are too close to the ceiling, which causes two problems: First, in my case, the cover was pressed too tightly to the ceiling and I couldn't screw it on without cutting it . Ceiling. My solution was to loosen the bracket a bit and squeeze a dime between it and the box and then tighten it again. This gave the necessary clearance. Another problem is that the position of the screws and holes almost does not change - if everything is not perfect, the screw cannot fit in the hole. Attaching the fan blades was a frustrating effort. They look good and hold once, however the screws are very short and difficult to hook into the threads when screwing in. As mentioned, none of them are magnetic. So if one of them escapes you, it falls to the ground. . real pain Not a bad deal, but far more of a hassle to install than any other fan I've ever bought. Perhaps a more seasoned pro wouldn't be so disappointed; If you're accommodating enough you should be able to do it, but if you're new to installing your own ceiling fan you're going to have a heck of a time with it.
