Review on Microsoft Surface Laptop 2 (Intel Core I5 Computers & Tablets by Rick Malloy

Probably the best laptop I've ever owned. For the past 7 years I've been developing on a MacBook Pro. I've been struggling with the butterfly keyboard on my new MacBook Pro for 4 years and all the recent OSX issues. I've bought several mechanical keyboards to troubleshoot and have never been satisfied. The Surface Book 2 is simply outstanding. The keyboard is perfect. When working in Vi, the ESC key is just the right size. I like the ThinkPad x201, x240, and x270 machines, but the placement of the Page Up and Page Down keys in relation to the Up and Down arrows has always been an issue. With the Surface Book 2, that's not a problem. This system reminds me of old Dell Latitudes from the early 2000s. It was a workhorse for data processing and development. The development of this system requires almost no effort. Linux Convert - I was RHCE and have championed Linux for the last ten years. My last Linux distribution was DeepIn and I really liked it. As much as I hate to say it, the latest version of Windows 10 smokes Ubuntu, SUSE, and CentOS. I'm very sad to write this, but it's not true. Just like Apple did in the early 2000s, everything works with Windows 10. Printer, Scanner, Skype, IDE (Aptana, Sublime, Android Studio.) It's such a shame. I really want to hate Windows and Microsoft but this thing kills them all. I work with many companies and work with many legacy data sources. Most of the time I have to work with the data on my local system to figure out how to export/convert the data into something usable. For example, I recently had to convert a TB of .dbf data to CSV to transfer to AWS RDS. I almost set my macbook on fire from the command line by doing a BREW job from dbf to csv. On the new Surface, it took a few seconds and I never heard the fan turn on. Time is money in the modern developing world. That's a big minus. Cons - Can't find it yet. It would be nice if I could use iMessage on Windows, but that's not going to happen. Oddly enough, the only thing I can think of is "less than" compared to developing on my MacBook Pro. Even though I'm only writing this review on the Surface Book 2, I want to keep typing. It's really easy. I have a black i7. It was nice.
