Review on BioSkin Trilok Ankle Brace Hypo Allergenic by Robert Long

Revainrating 5 out of 5

This is my second

What's better than a TriLok ankle brace? Why two of course. When I was a student 50 years ago, I broke both my ankles playing basketball. I didn't learn anything with just one serious injury, I had to learn the hard way with two major sprains/breaks in each ankle. When I was drafted into Vietnam for military service, the doctor who examined me reviewed my records, ordered several x-rays, and declared me unfit for service. He told me that the US Army didn't want to pay me a disability for the rest of my life assuming I survived combat in Vietnam. The Army Dock made the right choice. I've recently had severe pain in my left peroneal tendons and was afraid I'd have to replace them again. At 68, I remembered how difficult it was to recover from the second surgery and rehabilitation, so this time I looked for another orthopedist. He gave me cortisone shots five times and gave me this TriLok splint to try on. It took me a while to learn how to put it on, but the immediate result was a feeling of complete support. This bandage not only serves to stabilize the foot, but also to relieve damaged tendons. Just last week I injured a tendon in my right ankle (I'll never know) and saw him again. Same treatment, same prescribed brace, and now I have two. It will take a month for the tendons to settle down, but the pain is gone and I feel like I'm on the road to recovery - all for the sum of $68 and a visit to my friendly orthopedist. It's a long way from a third difficult operation, three months of cast, then boots, followed by three months of difficult and painful rehabilitation. This is the real deal! I looked at other braces and quickly realized that none of them offered the same design and support. Instead of ordering a poor quality product (for less money) and eventually returning it, I decided to stick with TriLok. Avoiding intense pain and knowing that your injuries are being treated properly will go a long way to your recovery.

Pros
  • CALCULATED COMPRESSION: A microfleece-lined compression sleeve is a convenient way to reduce foot and ankle swelling after an injury. Compression also shortens recovery time by increasing blood flow to deliver nutrients to the injury site.
Cons
