Review on Polaroid Originals OneStep 2 VF - Summer Blue (9016) by Jason Elliss

Premium Polaroid is the best among instant cameras

Onestep 2 Viewfinder is a great Polaroid camera for both beginners and experienced photographers. The main difference between this model and the previous Onestep 2 is the viewfinder. With the older model, you photographed while looking out the window at the back of the camera. The old model suffered from complaints from users who had trouble framing objects accurately when looking into the viewport from odd angles. This model has a more traditional viewfinder on the back, making framing much more precise. Because the camera can only focus to a distance of about 2 feet, parallax problems are greatly reduced. Aside from this update, it's the same Onestep 2 as before. Exposure control, self-timer, tripod mount, flash off, it's all there. Pretty much everything you need in a Polaroid, really. It doesn't have a "bulb" mode like some Instax cameras and that's the only feature I can't find a solution for. And you can take multiple exposure shots by holding down the shutter button after shooting, turning the camera off, releasing the shutter button, and turning the camera back on. If you have used a Polaroid camera before, you will be very familiar with this camera. The lithium ion battery is very good, enough for 15-20 packs of film, which is way more than most people get in a few months. (You should charge it before big events, of course, but it won't let you down.) I wish the camera could run on built-in 600 film batteries, but I realize that adds complexity. In the instant photography market there is strong competition from Fuji Instax and especially with its new square format. However, I will say that Polaroid photographs are still larger and their color rendition is more pleasing (though perhaps less "vivid" - depending on how you shoot). I also prefer their black and white instax films. Yes, film is more expensive per frame (even i-Type), but you can take advantage of Polaroid Originals' loyalty program to save some money. They also make stunning limited edition frames and emulsions like Duochrome.

Pros
  • Handy Item
Cons
  • Vulgarity
