My grandson is 18 months old and loves to run and climb. We keep all his toys in the playpen in the living room and he goes there to choose what he wants to play with. The double-opening doors do not make him feel trapped. I probably wouldn't use this product as a pack and play item, but it was nice to have so it would have a place to store its toys and play without making a mess everywhere. It's definitely not strong enough for climbing, but it's not either. the original intent of the product. I would also recommend buying foam playpen mats to avoid injury if they like to throw themselves on the floor like my grandson did.
