Wow! I've been thru so many knives trying to find ones that are easy to sharpen and actually GET sharp. I started out with just a few of the NeverDull knives and the stand alone sharpener, but when I had the opportunity to get the full set, I jumped on it. Trying to cut meat and veggies and fruits with a dull knife is a painful experience. My partner is a huge knife sharpening nut, but the process is just too much for me, so I'm at the mercy of having to ask him to sharpen the knives, and its never right when I need them. Now, I can sharpen them whenever I need. So so so sharp, they will cut thru anything. I was washing one and I guess not paying good enough attention, and had it backwards, and it sliced thru my kitchen sponge (even the scrubby side) and in to my hand with zero effort. Thankfully it was a very clean cut and not deep so it healed quickly and easily, but Ive never had a knife slice thru a kitchen sponge like that before. There was zero resistance. It can cut a tomato with no effort, and no tears or squeezing. Slicing potatoes and carrots are easy as pie. Even the steak knives! They cut steak like a hot knife thru butter. Sharpening them is so easy, just insert and the knife locks in to place. Move the slide up and down a few times, unlocked the knife and wash. Bam done. I know they say not to use other knives in the sharpener, but honestly I tried a few and they sharpened fine, although they just aren't the same quality. I think its time to chuck all my old knives as I haven't used them since these arrived 2 months ago. I also love having the scissors right there. I'm not a "things on the counter" type of person, but this set is so beautiful, I haven't minded the knife block being out all the time. I was a bit taken aback by the price at first, but now that I've had them and used them for awhile, its totally warranted and I'd buy them all over again if I had to.
