Here's a backpack for me and a friend to show how it fits people of different sizes. It helps me move through the shops quickly when I'm walking my cat Edwin. I tighten his straps and then clip him to my bag. Sometimes he takes it better than other times. If it winds up, the adjustable neck opening helps and the strap helps keep it in place. When I first put it in, it gagged at the neck hole while leaning on it 🤦‍♀️ so I enlarged the hole. I'm sure he could have jumped out if the belt hadn't held him. I understand what others are saying about the need for a more rigid base; The base sags a bit when my cat is in it. But overall I think this bag is great quality for the price and certainly beats putting Edwin in a big bag to carry around! He does his job with no problems.
