Assembly required. Don't worry, just do it like the picture. It's easy guys. A few things: 1) Use gravel to make it harder. You need to make sure you reattach the plastic parts that look like suction cups but aren't. They cling to the gravel like tree roots. 2) If you find that it's not completely smooth when you manually move the frame legs back and forth on the board, the air hose is sitting too high. Just take it apart and pull it down a bit so it doesn't get in the way. I bet this is a common problem. Works exactly as advertised. Looks great in my 40 liter aquarium.
