This dome port is better designed than ports with a handle because it makes it easier to frame your photo. While framing it, you can use the thumb trigger to snap a picture. I've tried shooting without a dome and it's almost impossible. The build quality is excellent but I would like a cut out for the front screen. In addition, the plastic case scratches quite easily. At the end of our trip we had scratches in the middle of the dome and couldn't use it. But we took some great photos that we couldn't have taken with our other camera.
