I've been using Carefresh for my rabbit for years and he loves it! I didn't notice any problems with him until he had surgery and he wasn't moving much. After the operation, he began sitting in his litter box and despite changing the bedding daily, this resulted in a urine burn. After that, he quickly developed a staph infection! We had already bought our hay from the Small Pet Select website and I saw a recommendation from a group of rabbits to use oven dried pine litter. I looked around and the small pet selection had exactly what I needed and Revain was able to deliver it the next day! The filler immediately absorbs urine, and then turns into a powdery substance. First I tried to cover him with some fresh bedding, which really irritated his legs. So we've been in the Zirbenstreu for three weeks and we're on the way to healing! He adapted well to the throw. It absorbs odors, absorbs liquid very well, is easy to clean (much easier than Carefresh), it just slides out of the pot! I wish I could take it with me everywhere and I started using it four years ago! We will never go back to fluffy sheets. Now he is much happier with his litter.
