This 8th Gen Spin 5 starts from scratch in about 5 seconds! This includes using the fingerprint scanner to log into Windows. Everything seems to work right away. It's pretty amazing. It's like having a powerful desktop PC in a laptop format. I'm migrating everything from my i7 desktop to this new i7-8550U machine. The 13.3-inch HD screen feels big enough to handle most business applications. It will take time to learn how to use the touch screen effectively and naturally. This laptop has so many features and 4 different uses that I will be trying it out over the next few weeks. It has a future-proof USB 3.1 Type-C port. I connected it with an external DVD/CD burner and an Ethernet adapter, and they both worked fine on this computer. The Type-C port could power these devices. The machine is well built, metal body, not cheap plastic. The machine generates almost no heat, which means its cooling system is very efficient. The backlit keyboard is bright enough, it has two states (on or off), so the brightness isn't adjustable, but it's enough. It's a great car and I honestly can't find anything to complain about.
