Works great - hard drives get very hot! I use a small fan to keep the disks cool while cloning. To update. Unable to boot with 3 drives in dock with USB cable. All these same drives boot fine when connected to MBI with sata cable, tried USB 2 and USB 3.0. Connections on the computer I've experimented with CMOS boot priority but didn't go. The source drive is my everyday desktop drive and the target drive is a clone I made right on my computer about a month ago. These are WD10EZEX drives with the same capacity and part number. I run the cloning process with 2 drives in the dock and the progress bars start moving back and forth for about 10 minutes, then the HDD2 light turns red and the instructions show the cloning failed. When I install this failed copy on my desktop it will boot but the original drive is missing 3 partitions. I turned off the dock, put the 2 hard drives back in and started the process over and over again, it failed. I'm very disappointed because I bought it to save time cloning instead of using the cloning program on my PC, but at the moment this dock is useless and it's too late to return it for a refund. *** Update March 6, 2017 - Emailed to Star Tech and they accepted returns and replacements. I'm sending in the defective unit today and we'll see how it goes when I get a replacement. *** Update March 17, 2017 - Star Tech's service is excellent, they sent a replacement the next day after receiving the defective unit. Excellent customer service! They care about customers!
