I bought this almost by accident while decorating our new kitchen and knew we would love the dedicated freezer drawer. My kid and I compete for pan time and one just wasn't enough hence the purchase. Another ball only hits this one when the tub is really hard (some ice cream machines seem to have harder ice cream than others). I would use these for anything but the hardest ice without complaint, and then I'd rather use our other shovel which has a pointed leading edge that expands as you shovel to ensure you get a nice, round shovel. It is really good and looks very nice with a colored pen.
