As you would expect from KitchenAid, this shovel is very well made. Sturdy, massive and ergonomic, it slices through the toughest ice cream with ease, yet feels comfortable in the hand and is ergonomic enough to make perfect Kinels out of the softest sorbet or sorbet. Built like a tank but well balanced and ergonomic - a very well made kitchen gadget!

Easy to cut ice, easy to clean in the dishwasher. No discoloration on the spoon. Much better than the Cutco ice cream scoop that we paid a lot more for, it had to be hand washed and then stained and cracked. Oh, and that scoop is perfect for my Kitchenaid Aqua Sky blender and utensils. What's not to love? Well, besides what ice cream does to my thighs, but I can't blame the scoop for that.

I've been scraping thin layers of ice cream off a pint container with either a steak knife or a teaspoon - so ANYTHING could be better. I bought this almost by accident while decorating our new kitchen and knew we would love the dedicated freezer drawer. My kid and I compete for pan time and one just wasn't enough hence the purchase. Another ball only hits this one when the tub is really hard (some ice cream machines seem to have harder ice cream than others). I would use these for anything but the hardest ice without complaint, and then I'd rather use our other shovel which has a pointed leading edge that expands as you shovel

My son eats a bowl of ice cream almost every day and when our OXO scoop broke after two years of use I got this one as a replacement. A little iffy as the OXO was a good scoop (although there were issues with water gripping it when washed in the dishwasher). This one is MUCH BETTER! It even scoops very hard ice cream without having to rinse it under hot water first. It's one piece so water doesn't drip off the handle like OXO does when I take it out of the dishwasher.
