I bought it mainly to manage the sourdough and subsequent bread making. It's a great tool - the handle is very long, and the fact that it's fully sealed made it an easy upgrade from the old wooden tool I used (which broke shortly after purchase). This tool should last almost forever. HOWEVER - be aware the loop on this one is really big - I had to bend it a bit to fit a standard "large" mason jar and since it's stainless steel it took a bit. power to perform - and the resin sealing the end of the stick where the wire enters broke a little in protest. I got lucky and the resin didn't break at all, but others who do the same may not be so lucky. They also attached the tag with REALLY nasty glue - even GooGone couldn't tear it off. get it back
