Review on 🔧 Houseables Adjustable Polyurethane Expanding Mechanism by Jonathan Wilson

They arrived very quickly and appear to be of good quality. They rotate freely and without visible vibrations. I haven't installed it on my desktop yet, so I'll update this review later. ONE NEGATIVE: The brake wheels look like they have been previously tested, with visible wear (see photo). I assumed this was a purchase of a new, unused item. For minus the seller. Three day update: IMHO be smarter and avoid future regrets. Learn from my mistakes, friends. I installed them on my 20" x 48" stainless steel prep table with terrible initial results. The casters wobbled, the brakes wouldn't hold, and with an 80-pound planer on it, it was a terrible physics lesson in motion and momentum. Here's what I learned: The seller doesn't provide instructions, but there is a YouTube video that shows how to a) remove the plastic leg caps (if you have them) and b) adjust the compression on the wheels so that they tight leg. To find the videos: Search "WebstaurantStore roles" on YouTube and select "How to install roles on a stainless steel desktop". It's 43 seconds of magic. Proper compression goes a long way in eliminating wobble and creating more stability. Don't worry about using pliers on the adjustment ring, just grab the rubber shim assembly and twist until you get the stretch you need for a nice snug fit. On the other hand, it might seem like a chore to take the entire table apart to install the casters, but do it anyway to avoid bruising and back pain. And here's another important point: Don't make the mistake of installing both caster brakes on the short end (front and back) of the table. This will only lead to an awkward dance when the table wobbles and starts taking off. Brake casters are located at each end of the long side, ie at the front of the table. I'm not 100% happy with the brakes on these casters - the wheels still move with a slight nudge or pull of the table. If you use a desk for light work, that's probably fine. The seller says the wheels can support 300 pounds, but they don't say if the brakes can handle that much weight. I am not disappointed with this purchase but I have some concerns about the effectiveness of the product. Downgrading to 3 stars.
