This was a little bit of an impulse purchase, but I have been toying with the idea of building a Mycroft voice assistant to mess around with (in this case, Picroft-- it's like an Alexa, but doesn't send anything anywhere and does its voice-rec onboard). I wanted the display to be able to watch the output and what was interpreted without busying one of my PC monitors. The screen is great. I tried it on both a Pi 3 and a Pi 3b+ and it works fine right out of the box-- that is, you get the kind of display you would get from any new monitor you connect. The included CD is unnecessary (but overly responsible to include!), but following the included printed instructions for updating config.txt yielded more of the display to used (basically, edge-to-edge).Two dongles are included to feed the HDMI signal directly from a Pi into the display-- one for 3's and one for a 4. The thing also helps keep the pair together a bit more.I think I would consider buying one of these for use on a PC as a "tear-off"-- throw notes or docs onto it for reference without taking up space on the main display.I can't evaluate the touch screen at all, as I haven't configured it and don't intend to use it.
