It works, with small issues

I installed this touch screen on a Raspberry Pi 3B+. If you're familiar with linux command line tools, setup will be pretty straightforward. They should provide a link to the config.txt settings so you can paste it instead of typing all that stuff.Issues:* A lightning bolt and an OS message tell me that I don't have enough power, although it runs. My power supply is produces 5V/2500mA. I guess I'll need a second power supply for the touchscreen.* The pi and touchscreen get a bit warm. This is…

Buying in May, 2021! (Since so many reviews are old)

This was a little bit of an impulse purchase, but I have been toying with the idea of building a Mycroft voice assistant to mess around with (in this case, Picroft-- it's like an Alexa, but doesn't send anything anywhere and does its voice-rec onboard). I wanted the display to be able to watch the output and what was interpreted without busying one of my PC monitors. The screen is great. I tried it on both a Pi 3 and a Pi 3b+ and it works fine right out of the box-- that is, you get the kind of…

Works on Pi 3 AND Pi Zero

Got it up and running easily thanks to the (corrected) info in IslePilot's review. (480 not 400.) Looks nice.Runs very well on my Pi 3 using just the 2.5A Canakit PS plugged into the Pi.After calibration, etc., I took out the SD card and put it into a Pi Zero and it worked. Some notes on using it on a Pi Zero:1. Of course you have to solder in a header. I used one from the MakerSpot 8-in-1 Raspberry Pi Zero Mega Pack kit. (And the second header is on my other Zero).2. Things don't line up the…

Pros
  • Good screen! Has a small switch to turn off backlight. Easy to install.
Cons
  • It may not be high-resolution enough for advanced graphical applications

Product quality? 4 stars. The usb micro power port on it should be soldered better. A handy person should really put a drop of solder on either side to hold that baby in place correctly. If you just throw the previously mentioned config options in your boot.txt, you'll notice that it kills your wireless. Why? Reasons. Instead make sure you:Sudo rpi-updateProperly do your raspi-config options.sudo apt-get update && apt-get -y upgradesudo apt-get install network-manager-gnomeedit your…

Pros
  • ‎3.99 ounces
Cons
  • It may not support a wide enough range of HDMI devices

This is actually the only off-brand TFT Display I've ever purchased that has exceeded all of my experiences working with name-brand equivalents. The monitor is fantastically bright for how small it is and how little power it draws, and the life has been fantastic so far. The display itself can draw power through the GPIO pins on the pi, or through its own power supply on the monitor board. The drivers were self-explanatory and install was smooth. Getting the touch accurately calibrated took a…
