Great replacement for a high end Xbox 360 with a failed drive

TL;DR: This is not a new drive, shame on the seller. It still works great and is still worth the price, but as others have said it's not "brand new". This disc fits my XBOX 360 Elite manufactured on 03/08/2010. There are six wires that need to be desoldered on each drive and then you need to solder the old board to the new drive. There are other 360s that look like my 360 and use a different drive. Be sure to order the correct one, search the internet for more information to determine if it is the right drive. You may not be as lucky as I am and you happen to order exactly that. It was the perfect replacement. I watched a short video to figure out how to disassemble the Xbox and ordered a replacement. But the drive in my Xbox was not the same as in the video I was watching. It was the same Xbox as me, just a newer model. The circuit board in the drive that you need to replace in the video I watched had 3 ribbon cables unplugged. My drive had two ribbon cables and 6 wires that needed soldering/soldering. Luckily I've always been willing to mess around with soldering, if you don't you'll need to find someone to replace it for you. Fortunately, since there are different drives for the same generation of Xbox, I ordered the right one. The drive I received was almost identical. I was able to swap the boards, put everything back together and everything works fine, but not perfect. When opening and closing it makes an unpleasant creaking noise. but it opens and closes unlike my old drive. It's as good as I honestly expected at this price point, but it's important to note, like others in these reviews, THAT THIS IS NOT A BRAND NEW DRIVE. It's clearly been used, probably by someone who disassembles broken Xboxs and sells parts that still work, but you can never tell if it's been used 50 hours or 5000 hours, or who knows. Given the accumulation of dust inside, it has found significant use. I've seen enough e-guts to tell you that it's been used quite a bit for quite some time. There's 'New', which could mean it was previously purchased but never used and can therefore be considered new, but there's also 'Brand New'. The difference here is that "new" means that the end user has never bought it. This is what I was told I would get and this is not what I received. The thing is, I would still have bought this drive for the same price I paid if I had been honestly told it was used and working. That's about the most I was willing to pay to have my old 360 repaired, so I'm glad it was easy and it worked. But I was misled and I don't condone that. If the seller (or sellers) would just honestly list this, it certainly wouldn't change their business model, it would improve it. I hope everything I said helps the next person fix their old Xbox.
