The best way to get a sense of what your users are doing is to put in some time to understand the interface. I was able to quickly build up my knowledge of the software and how it works. It's not something you can pick up right away. You'll need to spend time getting familiar with the tool, but once you do, it will be easy to learn everything you need for the job.
