This simple walkie-talkie set can last you all summer. They are simple toys and don't pretend to be Midlands or any other fancy guy. The plastic is flimsy, but setup is intuitive and easy. There are no instructions in the box but what I would call a quick start guide right on the back of the box. There is no advanced setting, but although the packaging states that they are suitable for ages 3 and up, I would increase them to at least 6 or more by age 12. Each of these walkie-talkies takes three AAA batteries, so make sure you stock up. These radios have good volume and tone. They are easy to use when batteries are installed. They can be worn by a belt clip but are more likely to be held by young hands. The range is good, but structural obstacles such as beams and walls must be taken into account. They are good for playing outside the home. A mini LED flashlight is located on top of each walkie-talkie. A quick press of the button activates it. There is a small amount of light, but enough to move around in a darkened room. What I like about these radios is that they are simple and easy to use. Don't try to turn a toy into something that it isn't. The plastic is light and not impact resistant. At around $18, it doesn't come out of the box.
