Review on πŸ” Enhanced VXSCAN Continuity Checking for Breakage Measurement by Charles You

Great DIY budget cable tester - πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘

I worked as an electronics engineer in what seemed like a different life. In this job I used one of these many times when we were troubleshooting line issues. The tester we had cost 3-4 times more than this one. After I retired, I got calls from friends asking for help troubleshooting their home network. So when I saw the proposed VXSCAN network cable tester I naturally thought it would be a great addition to my toolbox; I hope this makes the next call easier. The VXSCAN network cable tester is comparable in size to an average multimeter tester. It measures 7 inches long and 3 1/8 inches wide. This requires 4 AA batteries, which are inserted into the back panel. Comes in a nice bag that keeps everything organized. If you've ever bought a blood glucose meter without a case, you'll appreciate the case that comes with it. I will remove the batteries. Unlike my multimeter, this is not a tool that is used regularly. I once left batteries in my review unit and they leaked, almost ruining it. I ran some quick tests using a couple of Cat 5 patch cords and the 50 foot network cable I have. Three of them turned out to be correct and the length was right. I didn't go as far as cutting any wires to make sure the tester would identify the problem. The tester is very good and I'm sure it will satisfy the average homeowner. The main clue for me (as for other reviewers) comes as you go through the setup; Change length from meters to feet; The tester does not remember the setting. I see gauges being used by default as they are made in China. I even see it reset to default when the batteries die or are removed. However, one might think that after changing the measurement to feet, the memory would keep feet as the unit of measurement. I give a network cable tester VXSCAN ⭐⭐⭐⭐ for quality and price. I would give 4.5 stars if I could. The only downside to note is the quirkiness of the setup, and it's minor for a tester that's only used intermittently. Thank you VXSCAN for a quality product at an affordable price for the DIY enthusiast. I hope this proves useful. Thanks for reading - βœŒπŸ˜‰
