Review on πŸ”— Lee Fisher Size 36 1 lb Braided Twine Black: Durable & Versatile - 470 Ft Length, 228 lb Test Rating by Marc Alvarez

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent product at an affordable price

Bank Line generally has few features compared to paracord for many uses. Without both I would never have taken to the streets. I particularly like this Shoreline #36 woven by Lee Fisher. It has more than double the strength of 550 paracord per volume. Although a single thread weighs about 300 pounds, you can attach four or five strands in the same place as a length of standard paracord. 300 pounds is enough for most crafts. Let's face it, for hanging a tarp and setting guidelines, paracord is pretty much overkill, even bankline is overkill. I can set up my tent on a very windy mountain top and install some stabilization ropes. It won't break. And it doesn't get soaked in water in the morning when I need to pick it up and drive off. I would even say it's more versatile than paracord. You can see the size difference in one of the pictures.2. It's lighter, less bulky, and a lot cheaper, so you don't have to be afraid to use it. Many lanyard holes are too small for the 550 and often I have to thread the cord through something, but the paracord is too large in diameter. It gives me a chance I wouldn't otherwise have. The resin helps hold the end together and makes threading easier.3. Coated with tar to repel water and prevent rot. This also means it doesn't absorb water and, like paracord, doesn't add weight. Easier to wrap, tie a knot and grab. The tar coating makes it quite sticky. This makes it much easier to work with when knotting, wrapping and closing. This also makes it a much better bow drill for primitive lighting as the cord actually grips the spindle. And while knots hold better, they're also easier to untie. It also makes for a very tight cobra weave. See fig.5. This brand is easily half the price of the most popular brand in the bank range, but it's just as good, if not better. I don't want to mention the brand as my reviews are sometimes dismissed, but compared to the popular line, this line has a much milder smell and almost no stench. There is a bit of a smell due to the resinous coating, but this material is quite tolerable. Because of the weave, the cord is flattened out a bit, making it better for some things and more awkward for others. A flat line is usually preferred for fastening and wrapping. If you need more round cord, you can get a twisted version of the same cord. But we really breathe shines like when you need to cut the line. It's not exactly loose, not like a twisted lead, certainly nowhere near paracord, if you want a rounder cord you can get a twisted version of the same cord. But our weaving really shines like when you need to cut the fishing line. It doesn't fray like paracord. You can melt the ends if you'd like, but it's not necessary. When I received this line I immediately did some knot tests and it worked great. The fact that it's several times cheaper than paracord means I'll be using it more often and won't have to worry about how much it will cost. I got about 500 feet for $13. A good paracord will cost you at least that much for 50 or 100 feet. Yes, if you work with it for a while, you'll get some resin on your hands, but it's not intrusive and easy enough to wash off. Lighter, cheaper and more durable than alternatives, this is a handy item to have with you whether you're tying your Christmas tree to the roof of your car or installing a canopy. I always have some in the back of the car and in a drawer at home. It really is rated for 1000 uses.
