Works well for alternative uses

This is a good product at a reasonable price. For context, my use was not the intended automotive market. Instead, I've used it to monitor chicks in their small (about 1 cubic foot) nest box for several weeks. The camera was installed outside the nest box, the lens was inserted into a borehole of the same diameter. The hens didn't even notice his presence, and if they did, they didn't try to peck at the lens. The included mounting bracket made installation much easier. The camera itself was well suited for this alternative use: low light sensitivity (tested), very wide field of view (tested), built-in weather protection (tested), fairly good focusing at close to medium distances (tested), and easy to install and operate (check ). As a bonus, the grid lines on this camera could be turned off simply by cutting the loop of wire. Aside from installing the camera and cutting the loop, all I had to do was extend the cable (coaxial video feed plus 12V power supply) another 12 feet to an adjacent building where I have a standard TV monitor and VCR in an air-conditioned had space. I got power from a small 12V sealed lead-acid battery that was charged with a battery tender (I already had both - probably any 12V DC power supply would work as well). The seller emailed me to make sure they were willing to offer post-sales help if needed, but I had no problem adapting this camera to my use - it worked well with no hiccups; So I can't say if the seller's help would be satisfactory if I had a problem, but it's usually a very good sign when the sellers are so active! The only downside was that the image got grainy in very low light, but this is generally to be expected even with cameras that are sensitive to low light. I haven't tried adding an infrared light source, but it could provide functional performance even in total darkness if needed. I'm not sure if this camera is designed for continuous operation, but I've never noticed overheating or even excessive heating. For context, the camera was set up outdoors with no airflow obstructions, in the shade during the day, and daily highs never exceeded 75 degrees during the observation period. I was very pleased with the performance of this chicken cam, especially for the price, which is why it gets 5 stars.
