I wanted to wait a little longer before leaving my review on the quality of the 27er. Some information: β’ I purchased two of these monitors on July 10, 2017, so these results are not isolated cases. β’ Monitors have 4814 and 4832 hours of backlight. or Advantages: β’ IPS allows me to work with color-sensitive elements β’ Slim profile doesn't take up too much space on my desk β’ No bezel allows for smoother interaction with multiple monitors. Report): Problem: β’ The display brightness is lower, although the monitor settings remain the same. Shades of gray are becoming darker shades of gray and white is losing some of its popularity. Difficult to distinguish immediately when viewing images, but easily recognizable when working with flat gray user interfaces such as Autodesk Maya. β’ The issue occurs when the monitor wakes up from sleep mode or when a full-screen application that uses a different screen resolution than the desktop's native resolution is launched or exited. This issue was first noticed on June 17, 2018. β’ The problem occurred with one monitor but now appears to be affecting both. This is understandable given the nearly identical backlight hours. β’ The problem does not affect any of my other monitors, neither Acer nor test cases. The problem seems to be related to the Hp 27 monitors themselves. Additionally, Monitor #1 occasionally experiences a slight flicker towards the center of the screen after waking the monitor from sleep mode. The flickering is not reflected on Monitor #2 and is currently inconsistent. If I had a camera with a refresh rate capable of capturing flicker I would credit the source, but unfortunately I don't have such a camera. The photo I provided should describe the extent of the problem. I'm using one of my Acer monitors as a control. I color matched it to a tinted Hp 27 and then fiddled with getting the Hp 27 back to normal. (I will describe this process below.) The last picture shows the difference between HP27er #1 and Hp27er #2, where #2 is currently having this dimming issue and #1 is fine. The process I use to get it back to normal is a bit odd, but I figured it out when I noticed that the problem mostly occurs when the monitor wakes up from sleep or when the display changes. I just change the display layout in the windows display settings and switch from one monitor location to another. Then, while the screen is black from the ongoing adjustment, I turn off the monitor, wait a moment, and turn it back on. This method has successfully fixed the dimming problem several times. I give the monitor 3 stars because I expect the monitor to last more than a year with no problems. I've been using Acer monitors for over 6 years now and they have no issues or dimming.
