I bought the 6 ft, 8 ft and 4 ft this year to replace an 8 ft real Christmas tree. I didn't have the time or energy to decorate an 8 foot real tree this year. Plus, I have a baby who is going to be toddling around next Christmas, and I didn't want the worry of her pulling a heavy, real tree down on herself. So, i got these instead. I may never go back to a real tree- I didn't miss it one bit. These set up in minutes. I hung some lightweight glass icicles and clipped some bird ornaments on them and I was done! I did have to return the 4 foot one as it did start flashing shortly after I set it up, but the return process was easy and the second one I got worked just fine. If baby pulls one over next year there won't be any injury I am sure. They put off quite a bit of light- I can see why some people buy them to use for lamps. They are not "Christmasy" so I could easily leave them up until the end of February and it won't seem like I forgot to take down my Christmas decorations.
