Blades difficult to change

I was very happy to get this mandolin. So I took it out of the box and started reading the instructions to learn all its intricacies. When I got to the part about removing the julienne blades, I realized there was a problem. I couldn't get any of those blades out. As I pulled harder on the blade's tongue, I became more and more afraid that the blade would suddenly spring out and cut my finger. Granted, I'm not particularly strong, but I didn't think I'd have to use an OXO mandolin. After playing around with it for a few minutes I just imagined handling this thing while cooking and cleaning and was sad. I repackaged it and will be sending it back.
