Take personal protective equipment with you!

First, the instructions are confusing. But once you figure out how to take it apart and put it back together, I think it's an incredibly dangerous kitchen utensil. Once the julienne blade is in, you'll need a screwdriver and muscle to pull it back out. Not a good situation when there are more than 20 sharp blades sticking out. This is the first time I've been completely disappointed with an OXO product.

Blades difficult to change

I was very happy to get this mandolin. So I took it out of the box and started reading the instructions to learn all its intricacies. When I got to the part about removing the julienne blades, I realized there was a problem. I couldn't get any of those blades out. As I pulled harder on the blade's tongue, I became more and more afraid that the blade would suddenly spring out and cut my finger. Granted, I'm not particularly strong, but I didn't think I'd have to use an OXO mandolin. After…

More than I really need

Like all OXO products, it's easy to see why this mandolin gets such high ratings and reviews. However, my only criticism is that if I had used this unit prior to purchasing it, I probably would have chosen a different, simpler mandolin. Versatility comes at a price, and in this case, the price is weight and complexity. Of course, OXO has done a great job to make this device as user-friendly as possible. But after using a very basic Boerner V-Slicer for over 20 years, OXO feels like overkill. To

Superb mandolin with great instructions, true to the Oxo reputation!

This is the second generation of my cheap plastic mandolins and I really like them. True to Oxo's reputation, it's easy to use, set up and clean. It comes with crystal clear blade replacement instructions. I liked the grip better than my previous Benriner; However, my life changed when I followed Elton Brown's recommendation and bought a $6 Kevlar glove from Revain. With a gloved hand, I can squeeze any veg right to the end with little to no waste. That's why I use my oxo mandolin all the time:

Why have I never had anything like this before? LOVE LOVE

Vegans have a lot of need for cuts. I can't tell you how many hours of my life I wasted on a knife when I could have used this one! And this one, well, it's simple - you get five preset options and that's it - but it's also really secure, from a thick rubber grip to a very oversized armguard (which thanks to its awesome design will last a long time). . Onions to the thinnest part of the bottom!) And the whole thing can just be rinsed under running water, no need to disassemble and rub…

I bought this mandolin because I love the OXO Good Grips Tabletop Spiralizer with 3 Blades and StrongHold Suckers. Comparing the instruments, I see that the OXO's design has changed since this mandolin was introduced in 2008 (search "Chowound oxo mandolin video"). I understand OXO has released a few new mandolins since then, but I wanted one with a V-blade, julienne shears, serrated cut, and a springless food pusher, so I bought this old one. I like that the Spiralizer has a separate drawer…
