Excellent customer service!

Update March 16, 2017 I am very pleased with the way Fitbit handled my issue. Fitbit customer service contacted me in advance, then discussed the issue and exchanged my Fitbit. To be clear, the Fitbit warranty does not cover "normal wear and tear" resulting from daily use of the product. My argument, of course, was that my particular case did not fall into that category. Photo of the product with a random number that I had to write down and put in the photo to prove ownership and proof/date of purchase), they decided to send me a replacement. However, Fitbit's decision to send me a replacement was not based on their agreeing with my review of the device (meaning the product would not be covered under warranty), but rather it was a gesture of their goodwill, their Fitbit to make members happy. Fitbit definitely earned my loyalty through this experience. and I will buy more Fitbit products in the future. In my experience with Fitbit's customer service team, I would actually consider Fitbit products even if their final decision is not to replace the product. Why? Because we all know from personal experience how difficult it is to connect with someone who is ready to communicate right now. At least I know that if I have problems with Fitbit products or software in the future, I know I'll get a timely response from a living person and not some auto-generated replies unrelated to existing problems . I give this product 5 stars (4 stars for functionality and an additional star for excellent customer service). Also, I'm buying a screen protector this time (as I recommended in my original review) to ensure my replacement Fitbit doesn't run into the same issue. --------------------------------------------------------------- - --------------------------------------------------------------- - ------------------------------------------------ According to the I would give this device a 4 for functionality. However, this device is a scratch magnet! I wear it every day but I'm very careful with my devices. The Apple Watch, which I wear on my left wrist every day, there have actually been only a handful of occasions where I've accidentally knocked it against a ladder or wall, so I wouldn't have much to say if it ended up with scratches, though surprisingly, not even a slight scratch. However, the Fitbit had numerous scratches when it was on my right wrist and most of the time it was protected under my sleeves. I'm starting to think it'll scratch even off your regular clothing materials, which definitely doesn't bode well for a wearable. Just don't take my word for it. A simple Google search for "Fitbit screen scratches" shows how common this problem is, and the biggest problem is that Fitbit considers this normal and won't even replace it within the one-year warranty. They don't use sapphire or gorilla glass, but simply hardened plastic, which is probably why it scratches so easily. You would think that for the extremely small screen they have to cover for the price they are charging they would use some kind of scratch resistant material but no. If you cannot treat your easily scratched device carefree, since functionality is the most important feature for you, then you should definitely buy this product. But if you're like me and worried about scratches, consider other options. If you're absolutely determined to buy a Fitbit product, buy screen protectors to minimize the chance of scratches. But don't go back and say you weren't warned when you see numerous scratches on your Fitbit and have no idea how you got all those scratches.
