Traction and some independence for our 14 year old pup

Bought these for our 14 year old 100 lb pup. He has a lame hind leg. Also two damaged nails on one leg. It's so hard for him to get up because he can't get any support. His two hind legs are not so good. Arthritis affected his ability to move around the house. We strategically placed rug runners to try and help him out. He needs help getting up all day. I don't mind helping him. I put mats under his feet and lift his butt. So I took a chance and bought it. One leg is bandaged to protect his damaged nails. The shoe still fits him. I simply put his boots on his hind legs and made sure that he had enough space in front for his claws. Then I encouraged him, kissed him and gave him a piece of ham. I only managed 6 steps away from him as he stood up as if nothing had happened. He followed me all the way down the house, outside down the ramp and back into the house. He didn't fall or slip. He can get up off the floor or his bed easier than before, climb onto the couch, and walk up and down the ramp much better. Too bad I didn't buy them 5 years ago. They gave him back some mobility and independence. His balance is also slightly better. They are easy to put on and take off and wash well too. Soak a little detergent in warm water in the sink for about 10 minutes. Rinse thoroughly and hang to dry. Time on the couch is no time for shoes. Just be careful not to pinch your fingers when tightening. You want to help them, not hurt them. Keep your nails neatly filed. If they start pinching their toes and nails, they can do a lot of damage in a very short amount of time. Although he still needs help getting up from time to time, these boots have greatly improved his mobility. Traction won't fix his lame leg, but they've allowed him to move much better without my help. Above all, they helped him a lot. I am grateful for that.
