Replaced the failed device from the same manufacturer.
The defective device became temperature sensitive and could not be operated in the attic. It sent out some sort of signal one cool morning, but by sunrise it was gone. Replaced block and no more problems. Obviously, balancing resistors have become temperature sensitive. The failed unit was operational for several years.
