To check whether these sneakers are really waterproof, I filled one of them with water. And yup; it didn't leak a drop. The point where the tongue attaches to the rest of the shoe is about at the same height as the lowest part of the uppers, just below your ankle, so they're waterproof to that height. For keeping your feet dry in puddles or any other wetness that isn't too deep, these will definitely do the job.As for the claims of "lightweight and breathable," not so much, like my title says. Of course a shoe can't be all that breathable if it's also waterproof. These are reasonably comfortable for hiking, with good fit and good arch support, but I'd say they're more on the "sturdy" side than the "comfy" side. But that's what you want for hiking; going for a long walk in the woods wearing slippers wouldn't be a good idea.
