2 3/8" bit used. The grommet fitted perfectly. In fact it could have been a bit smaller for a tighter fit. If you pull the cord up the grommet pulls with it; but in my experience it is typical of a mouse hole grommet. The actual block is stiff enough to hold the ends of the cable so they don't fall through the hole, just what I wanted. There's nothing more annoying than trying to hold onto one hand while yourself the cable snaking back into the shabby underground of your desk.
