Review on FIDO2 Security Key: Multi-Layered Two Factor Authenticator for Office Business - Thetis USB A, HOTP/U2F Compatible, Windows/MacOS/Linux Support - Black by Will Schimmel

Good quality FIDO2 USB security key at a reasonable price

Security key looks good. It is a swivel so the USB port is protected in the plastic case when not in use. Like any USB dongle of this size, it sticks out quite a bit, and there's always a risk of it bending or breaking (!) if you're not careful when plugging it in. All that is in the box (photo 1) is a USB stick and a very small set of instructions (photo 2). The QR code on the sheet points to a broken link (404 error) and I couldn't find any instructions online. I was using a Windows 10 computer and was able to plug in the key and go to Windows Hello to set up the security key. When first inserted, the indicator light will be red (photo 3). After setting up and touching the fingerprint reader, the green light will come on (Photo 4). It also stays green when the computer restarts or hibernates. I suggest the company provide clear instructions on how to use it on different platforms as this is a new technology for many users. As websites adapt, many computer users can take advantage of this two-factor authentication method. So why not make it easy for them? So far I haven't been able to use the key to log into Windows or any other website, but the potential of this fingerprint reader is huge. I have other devices which use a fingerprint reader for authentication and make signing in much easier. Technology is still evolving, so many websites have not yet adapted to use two-factor fingerprint authentication. I'll try to update my review as I can use this device more extensively on both Windows and Mac computers. This is a promising area and this security key seems like a good choice.
