First of all, this is a huge mug. As an avid coffee drinker who loves large coffee mugs, I think this one is not large and coffee or tea cools down slightly in it. Ceramic is cheap and flimsy, which is probably why it's only hand washable and you can't microwave it. .I would advise you to save money and buy a quality mug. I think it could end up with a pen holder.
