I bought this with the intention of helping my friend's allergies. And he did! We live with a couple or our friends who have a cat and we are all so busy and have different schedules that the floors are not cleaned and vacuumed every week. My friend has a terrible sensitive allergy. I bought this air purifier hoping it would reduce them. We use it at night before bed, set the timer for 6 hours and now he doesn't wake up with a sneezing fit and in fact has hardly sneezed since he got it. It's only been a week, but we've noticed a big difference. Its job is to circulate air, so yes it still sounds like a floor fan, but the sleep mode is great and quiet. We're not picky about noise considering we use a floor fan, but it can get a bit noisy for those who need quiet. We love it and will definitely be getting another one for other parts of the house!
