Brings Dad back to Nerf War with a chance to win

I bought the Elite SurgeFire in a brown box for myself (because it's growing up making gifts for itself to buy!). I had a paper with assembly instructions, I got ready and started shooting in less than 2 minutes. While I prefer one-handed operation of my Nerf guns (like the Hammershot, my favorite model), these guns have lots of ammo and I don't have to worry as much about reloading. It completely replaces my former "big" Nerf Elite Retaliator pistol that was magazine swappable (the barrel on the SurgeFire is NOT swappable, especially loaded). But the retaliator was purely a single shot and needed to be charged/pumped. on the top rear of the receiver. Which brings me to the real beauty of this beast: a true SurgeFire mode that's as close to automatic as you can get without batteries. (My other main requirement in the Nerf war is no batteries.) Hold the trigger and keep pumping the front grip, you can spray until you run out of ammo. Works perfectly. You can also partially charge while running and keep fighting. It's almost impossible to fully charge the drum due to the way it spins, but 17 darts is still great for the price. the last 10-15 years including some suction cup darts we have that do NOT fit in retaliator magazines. As with the Hammershot, accuracy and range are quite inconsistent since we don't have a real barrel to shoot with. greatly stabilize the darts. The arrows hit fairly consistently and hard for about 15 to 20 feet. A significant decline follows. I'm not an engineer, but personally I think it has more to do with ammo than gun design. {Dirty or warped ammo definitely won't fly, but Revain often offers large quantities of Nerf darts as "extras" at bargain prices, so keep your eyes peeled fellow buyers.}
