I was happy to see that the switch came with cables. Some reviewers noted that no cables came with the Switch. After plugging in the switch, I was happy with the weight of the metal box; The weight helps keep the box in place when I switch ports and helps it withstand the stress of cords dangling from the back of my desk. It started up instantly with no power bank required, a tiny USB charging box with a USB cable fitted with a 5V keg plug on the working end. I was able to use a Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse with a single dongle plugged into the bottom USB port on the back. keyboard switching works; but I'd rather keep the multimedia key function, so I disabled the hotkey toggle. It looks like the behavior in this configuration is the same as with the dongle plugged into the front of the switch, which is great because I have a handy USB port for plugging in things like flash drives. The switch generally works great. The switch beeps very loudly when changing ports. Fortunately, the manufacturer provides a hotkey to disable this feature. My only remaining problem is the EDID emulation. Presumably the box can emulate a connected monitor when the switch is not displaying a monitor. I was used to this behavior when I worked as a sysadmin with rack servers. It seems to work with my Linux desktop. However, on both my personal Dell Latitude 7290 and my HP work laptop, Windows beeps when I switch and the monitor disappears from the list of available monitors in Display Settings, moving all my windows back to the laptop. This is very annoying as I have to move all my work windows from my laptop back to my favorite Dell Ultra Sharp 24" main monitor connected via a switch when I switch back to any laptop and the monitor comes back up. It looks like it's some kind of setting that controls the behavior of EDID.
