Review on Kizen IP109: The Ultimate Waterproof Meat Thermometer for Grilling, BBQ, ๐ŸŒก๏ธ and Cooking - Long Probe, Digital Instant Read, and Calibration Options (Black) by Julie Henderson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Best thermometer I've tried them all!

. or at least that's how I feel! I wasted my time and money and want to buy it first. A long probe (only 5.25 inch metal) that works well for my main purpose of making water for tea. Although I don't leave it in the kettle, waterproofing has proven to be an important feature for me (my last purchase from another brand went down in a tiny puddle). Backlit display with switch. The same switch is used to convert Celsius to Fahrenheit. Reading is almost instantaneous, faster than most. Pretty accurate as it turned out to indicate a rough boil at 211 and after a minute or so rose to 212 and finally 213 at a very strong boil. However, there is a calibration button that I haven't tried. The small rubber probe tip is surprisingly more comfortable and easier to clean than the all-plastic cases that come with some others. The meat temperature guide is easy to read in white on the black back. Comes with an extra battery, easy to change through the hinged door. But the most pleasant surprise? This guy is magnetized, so he lives in a nifty little corner of my fridge door instead of rolling around in a drawer. There is a strong plastic loop at the end (hidden by the thumb in the picture) that also hangs well on the hook. Or for my purposes a carabiner on a tourist backpack, since I drink tea in the forest (on Instagram as Tea_On_The_Trail). I bought this at full price with no discount or incentive.

Pros
  • Ideal for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
