If you receive a counterfeit you should know within 24-48 hours. Just ship it back to Revain so they can sell it to an asshole like me as needed. I have used the C7000-100NAS with great success. But then I felt the need for speed and got this C7800. Netgear could not solve my problems. These are: 1) Cannot select and use preferred WiFi channel2) Cannot disable 20/40 coexistence3) Increasing WiFi instability (occasional disconnects)4) General instability (complete disconnect - both Ethernet and WiFi) Where Netgear uses menu-based troubleshooting method Xfinity uses a series of advanced and sophisticated tools to reset, configure, update, activate and more. Xfinity doesn't know too much about it, and neither does Netgear. Netgear eventually offered to return the router, but not before trying to sell me a no-hassle $80 replacement plan. So far I haven't been able to find out why I don't have this luxury with a device that is still covered by the factory warranty. IMO, the firmware is buggy and/or the hardware is failing. Netgear Genie reports the CURRENT WiFi channel as something different than what it actually is. Although I accidentally found that I could force it to channels 6, 8 and 9 by lowering the MODE setting. Not very pictorial. Then, using a third-party software from the Play Store (WiFi Analyzer), I discovered that the router had actually lied about what channel it was on - channel 6 all along. Another exciting feature. Anyway, enough bullying. I'm glad I got rid of it. I'll end this review with a few random items. The LEDs are insanely bright white, but can be turned off (with the exception of the power indicator). The router itself is huge and lies flat like a coffee table. It has keyhole slots at the bottom so it's motivating enough to be hung on the wall. It has quite a lot of antennas, although I don't think they serve any purpose other than to look pretty since each of them is top lit with a blue LED. My old c7000's WiFi range is the same in all respects except for the lack of a 20/40 coexistence mode. That's all. I hope you get good feedback. One final note: I DO NOT work in IT and I'm not an engineer and I write reviews when I feel like it. UPDATE: This is how Netgear support works (not really Netgear. They have outsourced their support to a company called Gearheads (but that's another story) to handle problem customers who expect and demand satisfaction. They ignore you and close on Just end your remedy ticket UPDATE : 4/28/2021 I added an asterisk because the C7800 was a solid workhorse despite its annoying quirks Speaking of which I just found another one I can't disable beamforming Sadness forever Why me give a switch, make me apply the setting and then ignore me?!?!UPDATE: 09/06/2012 I went through my reviews and decided I should go back and upgrade this to four stars as I had found out , how to bypass the oddities, inherent in this device The first thing to do after a reset is if you want to make changes to anything m it WiFi need to make. I don't know when it's time for cutoffs, but if you make the changes FIRST they'll stay.
