Gold chipped too easily
They were fine at first. I made a beautiful tiger eye selenite necklace for my sister and it turned out really beautiful! The shutter opened and closed well, there were no optical defects, everything looked nice and shiny. After a day of wearing, all the gold broke off except for the inner mechanical part. I know gold plating isn't permanent, but you at least expect it to last more than a day, right?
