Sturdy aluminum extrusion plate, steel wire legs with thick paint to prevent rust. The bottom window is sealed to keep water vapor out of the LED shell. There are 3 colors: most are white, some are blue and some are red. All inclusive, blue + white on, red on - three modes on one button. There are five levels of brightness, one button toggles them up/down/up. The timer button turns the light on for periods of 3, 6, 12, or 24 hours but has no function to set the hours. You have to start the time loop exactly when you want it to start - no start delay. And the on/off button completes the manual operation. But the control box is not sealed. So I put it in a small plastic ziplock bag. A plug from the AC power converter box allows the control panel and light shell to be detached for easy removal for tank operation. The light illuminates my four foot, 75 gallon tank well. The shorter models might work well on smaller tanks. My flashlight sits over an Aqueon brand clear glass fuel cap, but since the flashlight shell is airtight, you may not need a fuel cap. I've searched the web for many models, many of which are more expensive. Many reviews mention early death from rot and water corrosion. These were not waterproof. There are others with fancier controls, some even with smartphone apps. I think that such a cherry on the cake is basically useless. Trading point simulation of day/night cycles and storm cycles is not required for Pisces. It's just entertainment. Just buy a lamp that is cheap, well made, emits light and lasts quite a while. Like my AQQA 4 foot.
