This toaster was disappointing. The first one we got was obviously broken - on several occasions the elevator didn't work but the coils kept heating up, causing bread and acrid black smoke to erupt throughout the house. Having been out of the kitchen a few times we were concerned about the fire. When it actually worked, it only heated the bread to the highest temperature, so you had to bake it twice to toast it. The company just replaced the device, but the long time it takes to toast the bread has stayed the same. Interactions with employees in Cuisinart's customer service department were mixed. It took them a few days to respond to emails and then an email came asking them to pay for the toaster cord to be returned and also to pay about $10 to have a few processed, so that they send a replacement unit - even though it was defective, risk of fire and guarantees. I would recommend you to buy a cheaper toaster from another manufacturer.
