We bought these as my 8 year old recently had a series of orthodontic work which requires him to have rods in his mouth and therefore cannot use a traditional mask. Looking at them I thought what the heck I'm getting one for my 3 year old too although I wasn't planning on booking one for our snorkeling trip. I figured if it works as a bonus it will eventually grow, if not. At first my kids turned around when they arrived because they looked so cool. Then they would run around the house and play with them and I realized I couldn't hear them. The mask has muffled their voices so you can't figure out who's even yelling in those things. Pros and cons but for now I don't agree on the pros - quiet pool time! Then we tried them in the water and it was sooooo cool. A 3 year old spent a 2 hour trip with a snorkel in the water, mouth dripping the whole time, he was sooooo excited about everything he could see. The older guy didn't like swimming underwater with them and we thought it was because they were buoyant. It takes effort to settle in. We even removed a 3 year old's float and of course the mask kept his head above the water. (NOT RECOMMENDED! But it was still cool.) So they're not really made for diving. A couple of times my toddler jumped with it and it fell off his chin so it's a bit big but we don't let him jump anymore and we're always within reach so it works. For us. My kids use them all the time in any body of water and I don't have to worry about them swallowing sea water or getting in their eyes from the pool etc. Worth every penny! If they break, I'll buy more! (My husband and I now have a mask too.)
