My niece loved them! She has princess magic and it was a fun project for us to do together. The extra tools they have (a pen to place the beads, a paring knife and a tray that holds the beads and you can use to build) are very important to make this process a 5.5- to make year-olds reasonable. but after we made a princess together, with my help she could do the rest pretty much on her own by filling the pen with different colors (she could, but for me it was much quicker and she didn't lose interest before she finished with the design) and sometimes took them off the tray. Ariel seemed to have a particularly difficult time staying together and we had to spray it multiple times to keep the eggs from falling apart, but by the time we finished it was her favorite.
