I have used different types of fountains, but was looking for a stainless steel one to replace a ceramic one that was just too heavy to deal with, and two plastic ones I liked but wanted to get away from plastic. I read the reviews on this fountain and took a chance. My cats liked it, it is easy to clean, I like the fact you can adjust the water spout and I like the size. It doesn't hold as much water as some, but I wanted something light weight because I have fountains in three different rooms. This one is not flimsy, but not nearly as heavy as my ceramic one. I kept hanging onto one ceramic one because I liked the louder motor that makes the bubbling, running water sound. Every review I read talked about the quiet motors, and I was looking for one that did make sounds. Just by chance I plugged this fountain in one day without the spout and it sounded just like a bubbling stream! The cats don't care, the water comes out a little faster but it's like their old ceramic one. I ordered two more fountains and left the spout in those because I didn't want to sound like I was in a rain forest, but these are nice little fountains. My one complaint is that they only come with one filter. I wanted to see if I liked the fountain before I ordered replacement filters, but that is a small gripe. I guess the best recommendation I can give is that with all the choices out there, and my cats being my top priority always, I have three of these fountains in my home.
