Having bought other Pyrex bowl sizes I needed some smaller ones. These fit the bill and the price is right. I have chosen to store food in glass containers instead of plastic. I worry about plastic leaching after a while, which means after years of use and cleaning in the dishwasher. Also, I'm tired of constantly buying plastic wrap for storage and then having to throw it away. It's a waste of money and not good for the planet. That's why I use glass for its convenience and food safety and because the lids - especially Pyrex lids - and while they fit snugly, are also easy to remove without breaking your fingernails and easy to rinse. I love the quality and price of Pyrex and how organized my fridge looks with all those leftovers neatly stored.
